Progress Update
by Will Smith on Jun.11, 2009, under Uncategorized
Things are going well for the project, it turned out that the current owners of the boat do want to sell it and so we have an estimated delivery of around five weeks, which is far sooner than we expected. We understand that the boat is in good condition and only minor repairs will need to be done to make her ready for us to use. So hopefully pretty soon we will be able to get onto the water with the boat to get to know her inside and out before the start of the race. Last night we had the SBSA’s 65th Anniversary Celebration at Buckingham Palace, we had a really good time and met Prince Philip and Geri Halliwell. This week we are on our qualification courses which include Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased, Sea Survival, First Aid at Sea and a VHF (short range radio) course, all of which are made compulsory by the race organisers. In terms of sponsorship we are making steady progress and are hoping to be able to pay for the boat in full when it returns. We haven’t, however, found a major sponsor yet and so any one who may have contacts or leads into corporate organisations that may be interested in sponsoring us, please let us know!
